Beethoven's Kreutzer Sonata, Janacek Sonata, Margaret Sutherland's Nocturne

Sofia and Berta return to Yarragon Studio with some of the best violin sonatas ever written: Beethoven's famous Kreutzer sonata, which is considered to be one of the most complex and challenging works for violin and piano. it will be accompanied by one of our favourites, Janacek's violin sonata. composed in 1914, in a Europe in Turmoil at the start of World War I, Janacek wrote about that work that: "...in the 1914 Sonata for violin and piano I could just about hear sound of the steel clashing in my troubled head..." The program will be concluded by one of Australia's most precious works for this combination: Margaret Sutherland's Nocturne.
